Swiss architecture enjoys international repute and is characterized by the beauty of its design, its perfect execution and its solid appearance. Some of its best-known architects include Le Corbusier, whose work ranged from town-planning design to furniture; Mario Botta, one of the best-known contemporary architects who has designed museums, churches, banks and numerous other works in a number of Swiss cities. The Herzog and de Meuron duo from Basel, who have put their signature to several of the world’s most renowned architectural works.
