The residential district of Olgiata sprung up in the district that was part of the area housing the ancient, powerful Etruscan town of Velo, just a short distance from the Farnese island, where the noble manor of the aristocratic Orsini family was constructed along the consular Cassia way constructed at the behest of the magistrate, Caio Cassio Longino around 154 B.C. The built-up area was mainly constructed with the fragments and ruins of the city of Velo which was conquered and destroyed by the Romans in 396 B.C.
Towards the end of the fifties, the marvellous green Oasis on the Cassia (just a few km from the Campidoglio), seemed to be perfect for the construction of a big golf course. This small natural heaven turns itself into a residential complex, which then became a sport centre with the golf course, the swimming pools and the tennis courts.
