Villa La Massa, a charming Medici dwelling dating back to the 16th century, is situated on the banks of the river Arno, in the heart of the Florentine countryside just a few minutes from the historic centre of Florence. Formerly the residence of important, aristocratic Italian, British and Russian families, in 1948, the villa was converted into a hotel. In 1998, Villa d’Este S.p.A. bought the entire property and restructured it according to traditional Tuscan style. Its 37 rooms are located in 3 villas: Villa Nobile , Antico Mulino and il Villino. All have either a view over the park or the river Arno and are elegantly furnished with period furniture and fabrics worked by historic Florentine weavers. All the rooms are equipped with modern technology. The Verrocchio restaurant, the only one in the Florence area with a terrace overlooking the Arno, offers typical Tuscan and Florentine cuisine as well as Mediterranean specialities. Other on-site amenities include an outdoor swimming pool, a fitness and massage centre, mountain bikes, tennis courts and a play area for children.
